Holy balls it’s hot out bunnies, am I right or am I right? Right? So what better way to cool down your day and chill out to some new tunes? I’m talking about the latest from Scissor Sisters, rabbitos, so hold on to your tails because it is one hell of a musical ride.
-
The Scissor Sisters have been around for awhile now and are famous for their 80’s style synth-pop with a dash of disco, and boy do those Sisters not disappoint this time around. As a 45-minute ode to night life, Night Work is a collection of careless fun that can keep any party going. Beginning with “Night Work,” Jake Shears commands the vocals over a groovy (yeah, I said it) beat singing “Night work, gotta do the night work, weekday nine-to-five shift is over,” I mean can a sister get an AY-MEN right about now? And when he goes into his riffing “Oh”s towards the end, it is absolutely beautiful, God I love that man, I mean, how could you not? Just look at him…
-
-
…yup that’s him with Kylie Minogue.
-
Some other notable tracks are “Fire With Fire,” which is an anthem written for an arena-sized performance, very inspired, but I already told ya’ll about that song, so I won’t kill it. The very buzz-worthy track, “Any Which Way,” has garnered much attention because of Ana Matronic’s sex-charged rant where she seeks that man “with the right shade of bottle tan,” who also “smells like cocoa butter and cash,” with whom she wants him to take her “any way you like it; in front of the fireplace, in front of your yacht, in front of my parents, I don’t give a damn baby, just take me.” CAN YOU SAY HOT!? This girl’s a freak and I can totally dig that, who can’t? In the middle of the CD hosts the glorious break “Running Out,” where the Sisters sing of exhaustion, but pep it back up and DEE-LIVER on the rest of the album, closing with a “Thriller”-like cameo from Sir Ian McKellan (am I a bad gay that I did not know he was gay until now?) in “Invisible Light.” Bravo, Sisters, now keep singing your song. WORK.

I’m back for another treat for you bunnies, I’ll write for you all day as long as I stay out of this heat!! So last night I whimsically decided to hop on over to Village East Cinema to check out the latest installment to Disney & Pixar’s Toy Story series, Toy Story 3. Sitting amongst twenty other adults no younger than myself, I began to realize just how emotionally attached our generation is to these toddler toys. While the movie is missing some of my favorite characters, for example Weezy, everyone’s favorite asthma-squeaky penguin, the main gang is all there. Before I continue, I have to say that the Potato-Heads are the scene stealers for most of the movie, and if they were real people, they would definitely be from Long Island, am I right?
-
-
Anyway, Andy, the toys’ owner, is off to college for this film and is deciding where to send his toys, which is where they end up at Sunnyside Daycare, but the toys find no comfort or love with these terrifying toddlers who play with and destroy them during playtime. Then the gang devises a complicated, artful plot to escape daycare and return to Andy.
-
-
I saw the movie in 3D, but I honestly wouldn’t suggest or deny someone from seeing it in this format. I say this because it’s not as advanced as most 3D movies out today, which makes sense because they’ve been working on this film before 3D technology became so advanced.
-
-
The final 30 minutes of the movie was just a sob fest for me and everyone else around me, definitely one of the most heartwarming and heart-wrenching moments in Disney Pixar history. Truly touching.
-
-
So go see Toy Story 3, whether in 3D or standard edition, it will thoroughly be an enjoyable experience.

Goooood morning bunnies! It is a SCORCHER today, so minimal clothing is excusable, although it is always allowed in my book, show the world what you got! Anyway, the heat and sun are unbearable today, so I thought I’d unveil a refreshing dose of musical sunshine, sans the sweltering heat. The song has been out for awhile, but Kylie Minogue’s debut single off her new CD Aphrodite is “All the Lovers,” and it’s that kind of light-hearted, feel-good brilliance that makes you just want to pop in the earphones and strut your stuff around the concrete jungle. At least that’s how I spent my night last night… I live a crazy lifestyle what can I say.
-
-
The song is about what everyone could use more of: love! Love for people, love for dance, love for love! It’s light, airy, synthesized beat is pure bliss and begs you to hit the back track on your Pod for a re-listen again, again, and again! The music video perfectly exemplifies what she’s going for, a love orgy! No, not some disgusting, crab-infested orgy you dirty bunnies. I’m talking a tasteful expression of love… with limbs everywhere. For a good remix of the track, check out the Dada Life Remix. I totally look forward to Aphrodite and writing all about it for my wittle rabbits. Now grab a bottle of water, cool down, and pop in some Kylie. Stay cool!

Hey everyone, what’s bouncing? I’ve spent the past few days under the trance of Kelis‘ latest CD Flesh Tone, so I obviously had to breakaway from it and tell ya’ll about it! The CD is fresh from start-to-end, let me tell you, and each track bleeds into the next to create what I like to call a Dance Floor Opera. Sure there are one or two songs my thumb tempts to hit the next button on the Pod, but I stick with it, because it all audibly makes sense.
-
So let’s begin…
-
-
Kelis throughout the entire album proves that she clearly has found her sound, and shows artistic maturity and moxie throughout the just-under-forty-minute-disc. Her voice may sound whiny when she sings, especially in the opening track (conveniently titled “Intro”), but it’s always sounded like that and what the CD shows is that she found the right beat and ambiance that complements such a voice-tone. She sings “You draw me in,” in this opening song, yet it’s the other way around, which is when she propels us into her world of “22nd Century Dance,” in “22nd Century.” Notable tracks are her debut single “Acapella,” “4th of July (Fireworks),” and “Scream.” Now, let me tell you about “Scream,” this track is one of the best dance/electronic songs I have heard in a long while. Here, Kelis mixes her singing voice to a commanding speak-sing (pay attention, Ke$ha, this is what real talent is). Piano mixing with Dubstep? YES PLEASE. Yeah, you heard me… piano mixed with dubstep, don’t believe me? Listen here. Tracks like “Home,” and “Brave,” are throwaway songs to me, but still are more creative than what most artists are pumping out today. All in all, kudos to Kelis, she did it and is now back in the game. Her Milkshake doesn’t bring all the boys to the yard anymore, now it’s her music, which is really what counts.

Hey ya’ll listen up! Roxy got a very special, VIP chance to see Drake in the back of Alife for a very intimately small crowd Monday night. The crowd was blown away by a set from A-Trak and a killer, commanding set from Drake, who, according to Roxy, was incredibly honored to be there and he had a genuine desire to perform for the concert-goers. Drake was reportedly really enjoying his moment because after giving away music for so many years he’s finally been deservedly recognized. Check out pics below!!
