So, as many of you know, my birthday was this week. The party at Sway Monday night was B-A-N-A-N-A-S!!! Tone’s photos say it all. Make sure to check them out. My raspberry hat from the 30s is reason enough. Anyway, in the days following the party, I got sick, lost my wallet, broke my umbrella and Bettie Page passed away. A bit of a bummer. Buttttttt… a ray of sunshine in a bleak week, I managed to get to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex (on Mercer Street) and check it out. Wow. Nerd out alert: seeing Angus Young’s infamous school boy uniform made me cheese like a kid watching High School Musical. Not only is there music memorabilia abound (think Elivis’ peacock jumpsuit, Madonna’s Keith Harring painted biker jacket, Mick Jagger’s white eyelet jumpsuit, Debbie Harry’s blue sequined dress and wig, letters from Garfunkel to Simon, Jimi Hendrix’s medallion from Monterey Pop and Michael Jackson’s original handwritten lyrics to Billie Jean) but a whole faux CBGB set up (if you’ve been here for a while, you’ll remember the phone booth and awning) and a light up model of all the musically important places in Manhattan. I don’t want to give it all away but let’s just say it’s full of multi-media dopeness. Parts of the exhibit are curated kind of weirdly and it is sad to see CB’s like that. It’s almost like having a beloved pet elephant on your block then it gets killed and all of a sudden you see its head mounted on the wall in a coffee shop. It’s a little jarring. But all in all, it’s pretty wonderful. And I can’t lie and tell you that seeing John Lennon’s wire frames at eye level, inches away from my face didn’t make me tear up. Cause it did. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex is worth the INSANE price of admission ($29.55 if you prepay online, and $26.55 there) plus who the hell is going to make the trip all the way out to Ohio to go to the real Hall of Fame? The point is, go and rock out. It’s cold and close to the holidays. You deserve it.

Wooooah nelly…Asian persuasian… I think I got it. Getting a little homesick for NYC but dreaming of Tokyo in the mean time. Just finished my China Tour!!! I DJed in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai & Hangzhou! Such an incredible journey and much love to John & Justin in Shanghai, & Taylor and the Split crew for holding me down in such foreign territory. I am so honored to play in China almost every night this week. I think S2 in Hangzhou was the best show, Suzi Wong’s in Beijing was pretty dope too =)

Went shopping to the markets….so many people out and about on a Sunday night it was wild, felt like NYC. I copped mad cell phone charms and other goodies. My favorite mall in the entire world is now TRENDY ZONE!!!!

It just so happened that DJ Enso’s girlfriend Joey in Hong Kong owns Tattoo Temple. I figured since this Cottontail ish has taken me around the world it was about time to get that branding for a very special brand. I wonder what she got?

Then it was off to Beijing….I met up with my girl Michelle’s boys from Strong Island, John & Justin. It was such a pleasure to stay at their crib since travelling in empty hotel rooms can get a little lonely. It was family time and John’s Mandarin was perfection…we ate, we drank, got massaged and saw the Great Wall of motherfuggin China!!!!

Hong Kong To Be Continued….Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy went down extra BIG… Enso & Kid Fresh held me down so hard, my set was great, PAE was sweaty dancathon. Met a New Yorker that heard me spin at Sway before and came out. I think every single person in the spot was covered in Oxy stickers…Inti made sure of it. Thanks Girl!!! After Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy…. I slept as much as I could, woke up for brunch, took the walking escalator there…

It gets so hot and humid in Hong Kong in the summer that you will break out in sweat just standing still, let alone the stairs. The midlevels escalator takes you through the steep parts of Hong Kong. It reminded me of a lazy Frisco in the crazy steep hills kinda way but, I was chillin’

Then you know I had to go all out with the nails, HK style. So J Nails set me off with this adorable manicure. Ann helped me pick it out. IT took 2 hours so we got to watch 2 movies too. White Girls was on when we got there. Finished that movie and moved on to Miss Congeniality. I hadn’t seen Ann since she interviewed me for Code Mag in 07 so it was really refreshing to have some Bay Area/NYC flavor in Hong Kong. Shout out to Clayton Patterson for connecting our dots together!!!

Kid Fresh did a surprise old school Jungle set for about an hour. After dinner we went back to Cassady’s to hear him prepare…his set was truly amazing. At the crib but then at the club, it blew my mind! Really refreshing and took me back to the days of Pratt when I first moved to NYC! Awwww….butterflies!

His set was half reggae if you count all the samples.

This guy……oh man. British bloke offered to buy our drinks and Ann said sure. But then I noticed the Sponge Bob in his hand the entire time. I was curious about whether or not we should accept the drinks but he was harmless and extra happy. WOW
