The Last McQueen Standing

Monday, August 8th, 2011
Alexander McQueen’s “Savage Beauty” was the biggest exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art this summer and as soon as I learned it would be there I knew I absolutely had to go!!! Alas August 7th rolled around the last day for the exhibit and my friend and I are were nearly in tears that we had missed it, coincidentally we happened to ride by the Met and saw a line wrapped around the block on one side and almost down the street on the other so what did we do? Hopped off the bus and got in line! The planets had aligned and the universe was on our side! We found out that the museum had extended its hours for the last day staying open until 12am!
After waiting an hour and a half outside and almost 2 inside for the mere price of $4 (for both of us!) I experienced something that I can’t even put into words. The exhibit was magical/creepy/thought provoking/inspiring and more words that haven’t even been created. I was so glad that I waited on line because it was more than worth it. For anyone who didn’t get the chance to experience “Savage Beauty” I’m truly sorry for you but I was able to sneak a few pics so check ‘em out…..

Watch The Hype

Monday, August 8th, 2011
Sooooo I finally got my hands on Watch The Throne and…….I’m not really impressed. Coming from two of the best MC’s in the game I expected way more but quite honestly I listened to each track while Tomb Raider played on low in the background and I was more interested in watching Tomb Raider. Now before I’m labeled a complete hater I’m a HUGE Jay AND Kanye fan and this love goes wayyyy back to the days of Jaz-O and when I ONLY knew Kanye as a producer for Roc-a-Fella. But listening to the tracks I wasn’t blown away and I feel like this is partially due to all the hype that surrounded the album. Rarely does a piece of work come out that actually lives up to the unrealistic expectations we the public have for it. Now there are definitely a handful of tracks that I can co-sign like “Lift Off” “Niggas in Paris” and “No Church In The Wild” (which I think just might be my favorite). Now please don’t take my word for it by all means buy the album and draw your own musical conclusions but I’m just saying beware of the hype. I’ll be reporting back in a few months because I got my hands on some “Watch The Throne” tour tickets ;) so I’ll let you bunnies know how the album is live
