Deception by Inception

Let me begin by just simply stating that Inception is freakin’ AMAZING! It just released this week, but I haven’t heard one negative comment yet. Now I understand why. I already offered to see the movie again with other friends… and coming from a student who lives dollar to dollar, it is that worth it. Of course chick flicks and comedies are great but this movie is my favorite kind. This film draws you into this hypnotic type state then has you leaving the theater with a “what in the world just happened?” or “is this real life?!” expression. You know you’ve just seen a great show when it blows your mind, and hours later you’re still feeling funky from the new perception you have on life.

Dom Cobb (Leo DiCaprio) is a skilled thief at the art of extraction. He is able to reach within the depths of one’s subconscious leaving all secrets revealed. Pursing his talent had cost him losing custody of his children because of a terrible accident. His desire to be a part of their lives once again leads him into a job offer he does not want to refuse. With the help of another experienced extractor, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Ariadne, (Ellen Page) plus a few other friends the plan to plant an idea in one man’s mind begins.

To plant this single idea in Robert Fischer Jr.’s mind leaves them with no choice but to conduct a dream within a dream within a dream. Yes, three different levels of dream states. The situation becomes messy, and Cobb’s dead wife, Mal (Marion Cotillard) causes conflict within the entirety of the film. This is a movie you definitely want to be wide awake for. Inception is engaging and draws you in with the amazing special effects, a flawless script and great acting. I say deception in the title because at times you question what is real life, what is a dream, or find that there are some people who choose to swap the two. Strange, I know. But I think I do that on a daily basis.

I would love to tell so much more but I’m not trying to give away all the ooey-gooey-goodness.    (I really don’t like spoilers) This is a must-see! If anyone has anything negative to comment after seeing it, I’d really love to know because I personally believe I’m a harsh critique. It could make for good discussion.
