Those Paper Nightlife Awards
I must report from the forefront of nightlife and fashion that I didn’t win a Paper Nightlife Award on Wednesday night but am so proud to be nominated for my work this far in the clubs. I am really honored to be a part of the 2nd Annual Nightlife Awards so here is a little glimpse of the night….it was limited capacity at SHOW nightclub on 41st St in Timesquare and I only had 4 invites.
It just so happened that Ma + Pa Cottontail were up here for Thanksgiving when I recievced the invite in the mail so they extended their stay and came along to get an eye opening look into Papers fabulous nightlife scene. I also invited my friend Imba and long time friend and club mentor, Bugsy. The night started off with a lot of Grey Goose since they were the main presenter/sponsor, and throughout the night the Grey Goose did not stop flowing. I chose to exploit the animal inside and wore this cute empire waist cocktail dress from my favorite store on 28th St. Coup De Cour. I can’t recall the label for it is at the dry cleaner. My sweet neighbor Sandie let me borrow her vintage animal skin pumps.
Bugsy briefed my parents on the ride over, that they were in for a real NYC treat, that it would go talked about for years to come, and that, it will. We were pretty early and saw all the fashionable kings and queens of NYC arrrive. I grabbed the founder of Paper, David Hershkovits and thanked him for the nomination.
The most shocking outfit was worn by a young gentlemen with a fine little booty and top hat, I think he came from the depths of Mr Black on Bleeker. Of course my father couldn’t believe this one and continued to take at least 6 more pictures of dudes ass laughing hysterically. I was like, “Damn Dad! You act like you’ve never seen gay ass before!!” And he was like “Well, I haven’t!” HAHA…it was hysterical.
Lady Bunny and Cynthia Rowley presented Best designer with Influence in the Nightlife and had by far, the funniest presentation. Lady Bunny is a trip. Imba and I agreed that next year she will be nominated for Designer with Influence and I will win an award. Cross your fingers for a whole years kids, or just support us!
The night was awesome and even Fergie performed, I am not a fan so when the drag queens started calling her Froggie I guess Fergie had heard it backstage and introduced herself as Froggie when she came out. Gotta love to love a sense of humor. The place was packed and the after party moved to 205 which won, Best New lounge/bar.
I don’t remember much except my heels hurting and that Grey Goose had me so full I couldn’t see. I can’t wait for next years award ceremony! So much fun! Thank you Paper Magazine!!!
