Brazil Blog #2 - Club Review: Layout 80
Brazil Club Review: Layout 80. Score: C-
First club review for this week is for a club in Curitiba, Brazil called ‘Layout 80‘. Apparently the club is called Layout 80 yet the Layout here was terrible! You wait on a long line to approach a check-in counter, where you receive a slip that you bring with you throughout the night. This slip strategy is SO SMART because you can not keep track of how much money you waste! The Cover is 30 Reals for men, 15 for women (Real- The Brazilian Currency) which is equivalent to about $17.00 USD & $8.00 USD. That is one of the most expensive covers i’ve ever seen. Next, you go to the bar to order a drink and they ask you for your slip. On the slip, they write a code, which NO WHERE shows how much your drink costs. This routine continues throughout the night. You enter the main floor, where the DJ is playing 80’s rock, (not exactly my cup of tea) and no one is dancing yet. At 1 AM the upstairs Electronica section opens, which is sadly much smaller and looks like the living room to a house. The room has terrible open windows that face the streets outside which aint so pretty, and the bar continues writing in code. The room and bar was the least of my concerns. My bigger concern was the DJ! He played a song for about 30 seconds, and then the music totally died, killing the entire mood of the room. People here do not go club hopping because of the extremely expensive cover prices, however the drinks are cheaper then in New York. Sunday to Wednesdays people do not go to parties, the party starts on Thursday and ends Saturday night. Find below pictures of the club;
