COOL New Music on this HOT HOT Day

Holy balls it’s hot out bunnies, am I right or am I right? Right?  So what better way to cool down your day and chill out to some new tunes?  I’m talking about the latest from Scissor Sisters, rabbitos, so hold on to your tails because it is one hell of a musical ride.

The Scissor Sisters have been around for awhile now and are famous for their 80’s style synth-pop with a dash of disco, and boy do those Sisters not disappoint this time around.  As a 45-minute ode to night life, Night Work is a collection of careless fun that can keep any party going.  Beginning with “Night Work,” Jake Shears commands the vocals over a groovy (yeah, I said it) beat singing “Night work, gotta do the night work, weekday nine-to-five shift is over,” I mean can a sister get an AY-MEN right about now?  And when he goes into his riffing “Oh”s towards the end, it is absolutely beautiful, God I love that man, I mean, how could you not? Just look at him…

…yup that’s him with Kylie Minogue.

Some other notable tracks are “Fire With Fire,” which is an anthem written for an arena-sized performance, very inspired, but I already told ya’ll about that song, so I won’t kill it.  The very buzz-worthy track, “Any Which Way,” has garnered much attention because of Ana Matronic’s sex-charged rant where she seeks that man “with the right shade of bottle tan,” who also “smells like cocoa butter and cash,” with whom she wants him to take her “any way you like it; in front of the fireplace, in front of your yacht, in front of my parents, I don’t give a damn baby, just take me.”  CAN YOU SAY HOT!?  This girl’s a freak and I can totally dig that, who can’t?  In the middle of the CD hosts the glorious break “Running Out,” where the Sisters sing of exhaustion, but pep it back up and DEE-LIVER on the rest of the album, closing with a “Thriller”-like cameo from Sir Ian McKellan (am I a bad gay that I did not know he was gay until now?) in “Invisible Light.”  Bravo, Sisters, now keep singing your song. WORK.
